Beginning an Exercise Program

Karen Marcouiller is a certified personal trainer and health coach — she says it’s important to include cardio, strength training, balance training and flexibility into your daily routine especially as you age. Karen stopped by with approachable exercise moves that are great regardless of your fitness level.

  1. Squat – A great exercise that specifically targets the lower body, almost all the leg muscles, as well as the core – abs, low back and glutes.
  2. Superman – Also targets numerous muscle groups, specifically the low back and glutes.
  3. Plank – Alternating knee to elbow, another core exercise that really targets the abs, (including obliques), low back and shoulders.
  4. Walking heel to toe – Is great for balance.
