“An American in Paris”

“An American in Paris” is at the Ordway Theater. It’s the first of the national tour. The award winning musical takes place after World War II. It’s based on a 1951 film that won an Academy Award. The musical is about the love between an American soldier a mysterious French girl.

The musical won several Tony Awards in 2015. In fact, it was more than any other show that year. The songs are from George and Ira Gershwin. Folks are raving about the story, the set, and the choreography.

The cast is talented and each member has their own story, but it’s two sisters that really stand out because of their unique situation. Sara Esty is Lise Dassin in the show. She’s an identical twin. Her sister Leigh-Ann Esty is Sara’s alternate. They have danced their entire lives together. Now, they get to perform for seven shows at the Ordway Theater.
