How to Save Big on Travel

Former 5 Eyewitness News reporter Mark Albert is now the Editor-in-Chief of The Voyage Report. He caught up with Steve and Elizabeth via Skype to share some great Spring Break travel deals and advice.

Mark says that you should jump on those last-minute deals to far-flung destinations when you see them and then ask for permission from work or arrange babysitters after the fact. He says airlines have to let you cancel within 24 hours for a full refund. Also, if you’re looking for a great deal, try buying airline tickets separately for your family and then calling to have them link the reservations together once you’ve paid. That way, they won’t try to put all of the tickets at the highest price, which they might do if you get them all together.

Also, he suggests saving on hotels by using sites like House Sitters America, Trusted Housesitters or Mind My House to find a home in the area that’s available for free housesitting.
