What’s “Appening”

Minnesota Live’s producer, Lauren Andrego, shares some iPhone hacks to help you use them for all that they are worth!

Use your phone’s magnifier to read small text

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Search “magnifier” in search bar
  3. Check the “magnifier” shortcut
  4. Now, when you hit your lock button three times, the magnifier tool will appear.

Create shortcuts for typing email addresses, phone numbers, etc.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap “General”
  3. Tap “Keyboards”
  4. Tap “Text replacement”
  5. Create a shortcut for something you type frequently.
  6. Now, when typing your shortcut in a text, email or note, your phone will automatically replace it.

Allow a contact to bypass silent mode

  1. Go to Contacts and find the contact you want
  2. Tap “Edit”
  3. Tap “Ringtones”
  4. At top of screen, turn on “Emergency Bypass”
  5. Now, whether you’re on silent mode or Do Not Disturb, you will still get notifications when this person calls, texts or FaceTimes you.

Quickly share your location

  1. Don’t open an app!
  2. Hold down the Maps app for a few seconds
  3. Tap “Share my Location”
  4. Send your location to any contact immediately
