Pumpkin Carving Tools and Tricks

Senior Producer Christian Unser carved a pumpkin in just 7 minutes! All it takes is the right tools. He stopped by to share his favorites!

  • Use a drywall saw (also called a keyhole saw) to cut the top and cut out any features. You can see a selection here at Home Depot
  • Use a “pumpkin gutter” to clean out the pumpkin – it attaches to a power drill. You can get them at places like Amazon and Spirit Halloween
  • Use a hole saw to cut perfect circles for eyes or other circular designs. You can see a selection from Lowe’s here
  • Use a Dremel rotary tool to carve out the face of a pumpkin without cutting through
