Thanksgiving Tablescapes

DIY Expert and owner of Upsy Daisy, Danielle Rode shows us how you can make your table beautiful and festive for Thanksgiving.  

Three items – all for your Thanksgiving table. 

1) Plate charger
2) Place cards
3) Centerpiece

Plate Charger

Materials:

12” Cake/Bakery plates
Package of loose leaf decorations (approx 35 pieces per package)
Metallic/Glitter spray paint
Hot Glue

Directions: 

  1. Spray paint about a quarter of the leaves metallic (if desired)
  2. Glue the leaves to the outer rim of the cake plates so that they extend approx 2-3 inches off the plate
  3. Layer in metallic leaves as desired

Place Cards

Materials: 

Package of wood slices from craft store
Twine
Package of wood beads
Paint
Sharpie pen/marker
Embellishment if desired
Drill

Directions:

  1. Paint the surface of the wood slices
  2. Once dry, write names on the wood slices using a sharpie or paint pen
  3. Drill a hole into top of the wood slice the width of your twine
  4. Take a piece of twine, approx 14-16” long and fold in half
  5. Thread the loop into the beads (we used 5 beads per place card)
  6. Tie a knot at the top and bottom of your stacked beads, leaving a nice size loop at the top
  7. Take the loose ends of your twine and tie through the hole of the wood slice so that the beads are attached to the wood slice
  8. If desired, embellish your wood slice.

Centerpiece

Materials:

Landscape timber – purchased at Menards (4” diameter)
Drill
Fall picks / pheasant feathers
Sandpaper
Saw
Twine to embellish (if desired)

Directions:

  1. Cut your timbers into various sized pieces (4-8” lengths)
  2. Sand any rough edges
  3. Drill hole width of your picks
  4. Insert pick and embellish with twine knot/bow if desired
