The nationwide search for America’s next superstar has begun. American Idol premiered Sunday night on 5 Eyewitness News and for months, judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan have traveled across the country handing out those golden tickets.
We sent Twin Cities Live reporter Kelli Hanson to Savannah, Georgia last fall to witness American Idol auditions in person. What she say were lights, cameras and a lot of nerves. Kelli takes us there for a behind the scenes look.
Along on the trip was Rue Norman, our American Idol Silver Ticket Winner. Rue won the chance to skip to the front of the audition line last summer at the Minnesota State Fair. That audition at Savannah started in front of the Executive Producers, where Rue and a handful of other Silver Ticket Winners from across the country sang for producers, to then hopefully move on in front of the judges.
We’ll have an update on Rue’s audition later this season!
