Here’s what happens when the weather starts to really get beautiful — everyone becomes a runner! Our resident runner, TCL reporter Kelli Hanson, stopped by with a list of summer runs for every level.
Want to run this weekend?
Sunday, May 20th in Afton head to the Carpenter Nature Center for this 10k trail run and 5k run/walk down the St. Croix Trail. All proceeds support the Carpenter Nature Center. If you want a hill challenge, or love a good trail run, this race is for you.
Not an early riser?
2. Torchlight 5k
This race is July 18th in Minneapolis. It starts at 7:30pm which means you get to sleep in!
Kelli says you’ll love the views as you run by landmarks like the Basilica, St. Anthony Falls and the Stone Arch Bridge.
Registration is $30 and once you cross the finish line, expect a huge party!
Hate hills, but love a beautiful view?
3. White Bear Rotary Strive Scholarship Race – Taco John’s Run Baby Run
This is one the flattest courses Kelli has ever run! Saturday August 4th, run along the shores of White Bear Lake. This is a small, organized run that’s $25 to register.
If you’re tired of just running
4. Rugged Maniac Twin Cities
Saturday September 15th find your inner rugged side and climb towers of shipping containers, slide down water slides, crawl through underground tunnels and leap over fire at the Rugged Maniac Race at Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls. This day long festival is $59, but prices will go up closer to race day.
