7/10 Movie Trip

Paul McGuire Grimes from Paul’s Trip to the movies got to sit down with Rachel Bloom, one of the stars from Trolls World Tour.  He gives us his review of the movie and his thoughts on Hamilton that you can stream on Disney+.

TROLLS WORLD TOUR (Blu-Ray, DVD, OnDemand)

The 2016 animated film Trolls was a smash hit thanks to its energetic characters and a banger dance track by Justin Timberlake. The sequel Trolls World Tour is now available through Video OnDemand. Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick are back providing the voices of Branch and Poppy. They learn that the Troll Kingdom is much larger than they ever knew. The other troll races are separated into genres of music like Techno, Rock, Country, Funk, and Classical. They learn that Barb the Rock Queen wants to destroy the other kingdoms turning all of the trolls into rock trolls and it’s up to Poppy, Branch, and their friends to unify the other trolls and live in harmony before Barb turns them.

It’s only 90 minutes and will be more memorable for the kids than their parents.

HAMILTON (Disney+)

Despite Broadway being shuttered until January 2021 and national tours on hold for the foreseeable future, you can have a bit of Broadway history in your very own home as Hamilton is streaming on Disney+. Hamilton on Disney+ is being referred to as the Hamilton movie, which isn’t quite accurate as it’s not a traditional movie musical. This is filmed version of the stage production featuring the Original Broadway Cast. This isn’t a reunion special or anything like that as it was filmed in June 2016 before these actors left the show for other projects.

If you’ve only listened to the cast recording, you’re only getting a fraction of the musical. Head over to Disney+ and experience Hamilton as you will fall in love it all over again.
