Sunday in the Park with George

The Tony Award winning show, “Sunday in the Park with George”, is getting high marks from audiences in Minneapolis. The show is at the renowned Guthrie Theater. The musical is about what it takes to be an artist.

The Guthrie Theater is known for its creativity both on and off the stage. Crews work feverishly to get some of the best props and sets to make shows come to life. “Sunday in the Park with George” is no different.

One of the key pieces in the show is a mechanical dress worn by actress Erin Mackey who plays Dot. The dress literally goes on and off with a push of a button that looks like a key chain. Crews worked hard to make sure it not only operates quickly and easily, but they also had to make sure it looked like a real dress dating back decades. It’s unique and eye catching.

This isn’t Erin’s first show at the Guthrie. She was also in South Pacific. She’s done a whole lot of theater in career. She has also done television and movies, including “The Intern”, “Parent Trap”, “Blue Bloods” and “Gossip Girl”. Erin says it’s always an honor and privilege to be in a show at the Guthrie because of the talent and love of theater here in the cities.

“Sunday in the Park with George” runs through August 20th.
