Since 1913, the Forti family has been sharing their families favorite foods. Sunrise started as a bakery in Hibbing. It was started by Guilio Forti who was an Italian immigrant. He came to the United States in 1910. Known for many foods with an Italian flare, Sunrise soon grew into much more.
For years, Sunrise great in popularity. They created a deli with their bakery. Their homemade pastas eventually started selling all over. Today, they are in hundreds of grocery stores and co-ops across the cities and the state.
In 2014, Tom Forti helped the family’s business grow even more. He and his wife, Emily, opened Sunrise Market in St. Paul. They opened on Grand Avenue in 2015. It has a market with home-made foods from the Hibbing location and in the café the food is made fresh every day.
Tom is a fourth generation family member and he hopes his kids will continue the tradition someday.
