Stained Glass Sugar Cookies 

Maddie Lu Carlos from Something Sweet by Maddie Lu creates Stained Glass Sugar Cookies for day 6 of 12 Days of Cookies presented by Bridgeman’s Ice Cream.  Maddie says these cookies pair well with Bridgeman’s Cherry Nut flavor.

8oz (2 sticks) of softened butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 egg
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups AP flour
2 tsp salt
1 bag of unwrapped jolly rancher candies

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Cream your butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in your extracts and your egg. Combine well. Add in all dries and mix until combined. Roll out your dough about 1/4 inch thick and use any cookie cutter shapes that you wish. Find a smaller cutter and use that to cut out shapes in the center of your cookie. (Making sure you don’t break the edges). Divide and open your jolly ranchers by color. Put each color in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin. Put your crushed jolly ranchers in the center of your sugar cookie shapes. Don’t over fill the center. You just need enough to cover the bottom of your shape. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are slightly golden brown. Removed from oven and allow to cook completely before removing them from the baking sheets.
