When times get tough, Minnesotans step up to help. When the pandemic hit, the need for healthy meals from organizations like Loaves and Fishes skyrocketed. When they began to wonder how they would provide all the food needed, UnitedHealth Group stepped in.
Like many businesses, UnitedHealth Group had asked many of their employees to work from home during the pandemic. Instead of closing their corporate cafeterias, their food service team kept their jobs and instead, they donated the meals they made to Loaves and Fishes.
UnitedHealth Group has pledged an additional $2.2 million to help address food insecurity in the state in partnership with Loaves and Fishes and the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities. That brings their total contribution to $5.4 million since the pandemic began.
