The Fashion Power of 3

We all have that one female friend who you never see wearing the same thing twice. Our next guest is that friend — and it’s because she’s got a knack for mixing and matching. So much so, she blogs about it. Amy Seeman’s blog “To Wit, To Woo” is inspiring women to take a basic outfit and elevate it. She stopped by our studio to show us how adding a third piece can always complete an outfit.

  1. Sue – Sue is a lady on the go! She loves to keep up with the latest fashion trends, but doesn’t always have time for a lot of fuss. The athleisure trend is all about mixing your athletic apparel with your everyday casual wear. It’s gaining a ton of momentum and it should be here to stay. In Sue’s case, when adding this crisp white bomber from Target, it took her look from the gym to the streets in true athleisure fashion. This piece is versatile, as she could also pair it with a graphic tee and jeans, joggers, or over a spandex midi dress.
  2. Cassie – Cassie is a stay at home mom with 3 school aged children. She’s in the chauffer stage of her life where the majority of her days are spent running them to dance class, piano lessons, friends birthday parties, etc. She doesn’t have a lot of time – or energy – in the morning to put much thought into what she wears. When helping her pull together some quick and easy go-to looks, she said she wants to be comfortable but look put together. When thinking of a “put together” look, it’s the addition of the 3rd piece that really elevates a basic casual outfit. The way the draping moves in this particular vest pairs perfectly with a structured shirt giving off more of an effortless vibe. It’s also light weight enough to carry over into the summer months with a graphic tee or tank and a pair of cutoff jeans.
  3. Paula – Paula is a stay at home mom of school aged children so her daily uniform consists of jeans and a tee. With spring just around the corner, we’re thinking a dressy look, something a little dressier for Easter brunch, a friend’s baby shower, or something to wear to her part-time job. You will be seeing a lot of green this spring as Greenery is the official Pantone color of the year. This LuLaRoe Cassie skirt can be dressed up or down with a tee and converse sneakers. In this look when we added the embroidered jacket (another big trend you’ll see for spring) it brought the green from the skirt all the way through to the top, and added an element of fun and interest to a classic look. Some people may be afraid of the bold print of the jacket, but there are so many great colors in there that you can pair it with just about anything. When mixing it with another print like we did with the stripe, the key is to pair a micro print (stripe) with a macro print (big flowers).
