For the first time since 2005 the Wells Fargo WinterSkate has moved from the Landmark Plaza and is now on the infield at CHS Field, home of the Saint Paul Saints. Twin Cities Live reporter Kelli Hanson laced up her ice skates to take us there and tell us about other outdoor rinks worth checking out.
Destination Winter at CHS Field
Access to the rink is free and you can rent skates for $5. If you have a Wells Fargo Card, skate rental is Free! The rink on CHS Field is open every day at 11am, now through February 22nd.
While you’re there, check out the Securian Superslide. The 130 feet of snow-packed excitement is back at CHS Field this Winter. The twin-track begins 40-feet above the field on the second story patio. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids under 12.
Central Park Ice Skating Loop
This Maple Grove skating loop is 810 foot long and 20 foot wide refrigerated ice skating trail. It’s open from 10am-9pm every day and skate rental is available from 4-9pm.
Centennial Lakes Park
This Edina outdoor rink is celebrating winter at the Winter Ice Festival on Sunday, January 12th from 1-5pm. You can ice skate, there will be ice sculptors, and face painting for the kids. It’s free to go skating and skate rental is $6.
The Oval in Roseville
The Oval is the largest outdoor refrigerated skating facility in the world. It’s 110,000 square feet and open from November to March. Skate rental is $5. They also offer skating lessons starting at $5.
