Reporter Emily Engberg is taking us on a tour of our some of our favorite neighborhoods for fall. She’s stopping at all sorts of places in a new series called “Where’s Em?”.
Her second stop is in Red Wing at the historic St. James Hotel. The hotel was opened by eleven business owners back in 1875. It just so happened to be Thanksgiving.
The hotel gave folks a luxurious place to stay near the train depot and steamboat docks. The location was perfect. The hotel was booked every night with all sorts of people. It made quite the impression with guests.
Today, the St. James Hotel is owned by Red Wing Shoe Company. It still provides all sorts of amenities, stories and of course history.
