Many families use the holidays to start traditions. We’re compiling a list of spots that will get you in the holiday spirit. Our first stop is the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.
Fest! Merry Mansion is all about the Nordic Holidays. The Turnblad Mansion is decorated to highlight the traditions from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark. Each room has a unique look and personality. As you walk through each room, you’ll learn about the history of each spot and you may pick up some decorating ideas of your own. The courtyard at the institute has Nordic timber frames. It’s an area where kids can play and explore. There are also rooms upstairs in the mansion that are dedicated to kids. They can have a puppet show, play with toys and they can even read a story.
Fika Restaurant inside the American Swedish Institute is offering food as part of the Spirited Glogg Tours. Guests can take the warm, spiced drink with them as they explore the rooms.
