Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post is dedicated to learning about the history of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. The museum is hands on with different programs throughout the year. It showcases all sorts of stories and examples of life then and now. You see gorgeous, colorful outfits. You get the sights and sounds of the four seasons. The museum even welcomes classes designed to learn the native language.
The trading post is next door. Visitors learn about more history on the site. There’s even a model of what it used to look like. The trading post has a lot of unique items. Everything from jewelry and clothing to specialty foods. American Indian gifts from Mille Lacs artisans are the focus, but you’ll also find things from artisans across the country.
