Deal Diva: Free Summer Activities

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer and pretty soon the kids will start the old “I’m bored!” song and dance. Thanks to our friends at MidCountry Bank, our Deal Diva is here with ideas to keep your kids and yourself happy for next nothing this summer.

  1. Vali-Hi Drive-In Movie Theater in Lake Elmo
    Kids 5 and under are free and ages 6-12 are only $1! Plus hotdogs are always $1! They don’t accept credit cards, so bring cash. The drive-in is open every night.
  2. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
    The garden, which opened in 1988, is home to several iconic works from the Walker Art Center, including the iconic Spoonbridge and cherry sculpture. It’s Free and open daily from 6am to midnight. If you or your kids are into selfies or taking artsy pictures, this is the spot!
  3. Go fishing
    Take a Kid Fishing Weekend this year is June 7-9. Minnesotans age 16 or older who take a child 15 or younger fishing don’t need a license. If you don’t have the gear, the Minnesota DNR offers free fishing kits, complete with a stocked tackle box. Check out the list of public water maps here.
  4. CHS Field, City of Baseball Museum
    This 2,000 square foot museum opened its doors at the beginning of the 2019 Baseball Season at CHS Field. The museum is Free to the public during stadium hours and to fans who attend games.
  5. Starlight Cinema

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and take the kids to a Free outdoor movie this summer at Starlight Cinema. This outdoor movie series at Lake Middle School in Woodbury features a 40 foot inflatable screen.
