Mary Lou Murray lost her good friend, Rose Schoeneberger, to complications from alzheimers disease.  Friends for 30 years, they both loved to quilt. As Rose's condition worsened, she stopped in the middle of what would be her last project.  After she passed, Mary Lou picked up where her dear friend left off and submitted this moving tribute to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's "Quilt to Remember."  For more information on the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, click here.

The remarkable Suzie Seever told us here incredible story of how the martial arts helped her cope with her condition. Suzi was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a very young age and has undergone numerous organ transplants and treatments. This amazing wife and mother earned her black belt in Tae Kwon Do from Sun Yi's Academy in White Bear Lake.

TVbyGIRLS is a nonprofit organization that works with girls ages 10 to 18.  In one project, young women partenered with older women to learn from each other, and bridge the generation-gap through conversation and sharing. The young women produced films of their encounters which will be shown at the Landmark Theater on Thursday, June 12th.  Kristen Nelson and Jean Jefferson were in the studio to talk about their unique and rewarding experience working on this project.

In January 2008, Jordyn Chiodo, a New Brighton 6th grader, became the youngest Minnesotan to bowl a 300, meaning he got a strike in every frame. Jordyn has been bowling since he was four years old, and hopes to one day become a professional bowler. He gave John and Rebekah a few secrets and helped them improve their games.

We had an inside look at the new recruitment campaign from the Twin Cities chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. The Barbershop Challenge targets the African-American community by using barbershops. The challenge is to recruit 60 mentors in six weeks and some local area shops have already kicked things off.  Sheletta Brundidge, host of Crossroads on KSTC 45, stopped by to add commentary, comedy and a little heart. The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge makes the provides a home-like residence, without charge, to cancer patients. The Hope Lodge participaes in the cancer treatment process by providing an emotionally supportive environment while reducing the financial burden of multiple night stays. Minnesota's first ever Elder Care Expo is this weekend at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.  Social worker Joe Groshens and his family started the Expo after their experience dealing with their elderly mother.  The Expo is Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Education Building at the Fairgrounds.  For more information, click here.
