A New Children's Museum in Minnesota?!   Back To Top
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Southern Minnesota is getting a children's museum.  Plans were announced Tuesday for the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota, to be located in the Mankato area.  A definite location and opening date aren't known yet. But project leaders say a downtown locale would be ideal, and a 2010 opening is possible.  Meanwhile, board members say the Children's Museum will hit the road with traveling exhibits. The campaign kicks off Thursday at Songs on the Lawn in Mankato.  Children's Museum Board Chairwoman Linda Frost says the organization will be going to parades and family events "and just letting people know we're here."  Frost says the Childrens Museum will need between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet to house all its exhibits.
